We know how important schools are in the community and with all the programs that are being cut we feel that our involvement is more crucial than ever. We approached the Charlotte High School (CHS) and asked them if they would be interested in having a program in place that would give a vehicle away to one of their top 5 graduating seniors? They turned us down flat...no, not really. CHS was on board right away and we were off and running. We then talked to local area businesses about donations to aid in refurbishing the vehicle. The vehicle for the first year was a 2001 Chevy Cavalier that came out of our fleet. It was our Mobile Estimating Unit and we had decided to retire it. So, instead of selling it, we thought this would be a better idea. So, who got involved? Glad you asked! Car Quest of Charlotte, Dornbos Sign and Safety, Guardian Auto Glass, Corrigan%26apos;s Truck Accessories, Belle Tire and of course Vision Collision. We gave the vehicle away on May 10th and it was a perfect day! The weather was great. The whole contest came out great as well. WILX and WLNS gave us T.V. coverage and the drawing of the keys went right down to the last 2 seniors. What happened was the seniors all chose cards that would decide what order they picked a key to see if it started the car. If your key works...you win. Well, the fourth senior tried her key and it did not start the car so that meant the last senior standing there won! Wow! She was floored! Of course one of the owners and myself looked at each other and gave that knowing look of: %26quot;That last key better start the car...%26quot; It did and Julia was the winner! You can see pics of the whole thing at the tab marked Giveaway. This will be hard to top for next year! Yes...next year, this is now an annual event!
